Whispers Photography is about capturing babyhood and childhood – the hushed sweetness of new life and the grins and giggles of growing up. Kristin Farnsworth, the owner and lead photographer, together with associates Amy Douglass and Jenifer Haas, uses the experienced eyes of a mother and professional artist to give families lasting memories. The art created from your session will pass through many hands as it is enjoyed by friends and family, but it will also pass through generations. Simply put, Whispers’ images are a gift from and for children.

For newborns and infants, families get to capture the feeling of wonder, excitement and pure love that couples experience when they first become a family, or when a brand new baby comes to change the family landscape. Babies bring complex and unique times with them, and Whispers creates images that help families savor those stardust moments forever.

For toddlers and older children, sessions are about surrounding a child with his or her own personality. Light and breezy, sweet and sensitive, independent and bold, outrageous and funny – these are all states of mind that can be re-created in our studio or matched in an outdoor setting (slightly trickier, but often well worth the effort).

For high school seniors, life is a rich and complex landscape. These sessions often take more time because personalities and interests become more dramatic as kids mature toward adulthood. This complexity translates into a truly individual experience, one where engaging expressions, creative clothes, and personal tastes are welcome and encouraged.

The most successful sessions are ones where the families have talked with Kristin, Jeni, or Amy ahead of time. About what? Well, anything. What kids like to do (either in school or out), favorite vacations, kids’ opinions about anything from clothes to food to cartoon characters…the best ideas come from the most unlikely topics. This forms a rough sketch so everyone can be prepared for the photo shoot.

The photo shoot is where the chemistry comes together. The ideas combine with the personality, clothes, lighting, and expressions to create extraordinary art and magical memories. Even kids who are not in perfect moods or even a little happy about getting their pictures taken can have great sessions. How? Because the best pictures are found in an instant – it only takes a split second to capture a hidden smile or sassy smirk. Life just isn’t naturally perfect, but the imperfections can be extraordinary.
